Welcome to my world of fabulous fashion and furniture!!

I haven't had a blog since the days of my titles and crowns! However, after the years in fashion and owning my own clothing boutique to working in the furniture industry, I have realized the need to use my design expertise to share tips and guide people to style!!

I have always loved the wonderful world of fashion- and I have been told that some girls are just born with glitter in their veins... I would be one of those girls.  Sometimes I can be the "high fashion", "loving the couture", "rocking the red bottoms" type of girl, and other times I am the "bling, bling, and more bling", "crystal studded and pageant dressed to the nines" type of girl!!  So I have a well rounded wardrobe to say the least.  There is something to be said for personal style reflecting through what you wear, how you wear it, and the way you dress not only yourself but your living space as well. That is what I am coming to realize more and more.  So for someone like me who loves a little bit of it all, I have a mix of traditional, modern, bling, and color to my closet and living space.  You could say I am very eclectic with my style and I have many different ways to wear things and lots of things to wear in general.

Over the years I have made quite the collection of dresses, clothes, shoes, handbags and jewelry.  And as luck would have it as I walk around Furnitureland South- the largest furniture store in the world- I see different pieces of furniture that mimic the styles I have in my closet and the styles I see on celebrities and on the runway, as well as looking like different days of my personal style.  I am very used to judging and picking apart different looks to decipher the fashion itself and the individuals style. I was a stylist and a fashion consultant.... I worked on the news and on the radio. Owning Swish Dresses and working in retail was tough, same with the furniture retail.  You have to know what to order for up and coming trends- and trying to figure out what people want without asking them is NOT easy!!  I would know! I would pick what I thought the customer would like, try to put styles together when they came in and help them along the way!  Funny thing- I knew exactly what I liked and bought more for my tastes and what the market was- which is probably how I became to be very versatile in my choices to wear!  My favorite part of how everyday work was that everyone walking in the doors said they loved the design of my store, the furniture, and the look and feel.  I have always heard, you are selling a feeling- not a dress or a couch- but a feeling. So making these connections and having those feelings about what you wear and where you sit or lay down or the rugs you walk on is all about YOU!!!  So if its all about style, and all about you, how can you possibly choose with so many options!  Finding your style is key and then we can go from there!

That is exactly why I am introducing my design blog.  This business is all about fashion and design. I will showcase elements of furniture and fashion that will reflect your personal style from shape, texture, and patterns, to looks and types.  Today I am introducing my first find in fashion and furniture with a JUST JULIE: PICK OF THE DAY! I will compare a fashion find to a furniture find here in the store that just might help you complete your project or change your outfit for the day.  Everything at Furnitureland South is so similar to all I have done previously, now its about connecting the dots!

Great thing was, I took this position at the most perfect time!  I just got a condo and had to move and furnish it.  I had several pieces I brought from the old store when I sold it.  So, I incorporated those and had to add to it.  The condo itself had modern and traditional aspects with archways and roman-arched doors, dark wood floors and beautiful cherry colored cabinets.  The modern feel is in the brushed nickel finishes and the straight lines.  I of course had to add my own flare to it.  I found lots of great finds and I walked miles here at FLS to find some amazing quality and beautiful things! There were tons of manufacturers and lines, and over a million square feet to look at things I needed- like a couch and a kitchen table, rugs too.  It was the process of putting it all together that I am most proud of!   I will have pictures and video of that introducing later this week as I hang more pictures and put more of "me" into the space!  But a little incentive to stay tuned for that- being a lover of all things fashion- my 2nd bedroom- I turned into my closet!  I of course still have two other closets being utilized (haha- big grin!!) but I had rolling racks brought in and organizers to display shoes and handbags so when you walk in all you see is my enormous (too enormous) collection! I have to say, I am very proud of it and its fabulous- I named it the "Princess Room."  However, to the average male that enters, they will all and so far have, thought that I had a severe shopping addition and probably thought that I was a little bit crazy! The average female wants to get a shopping addition in my Princess Room!  I guess I could give Kim Kardashian somewhat of a run for her money with this closet of mine- by far my favorite room so far!  So pictures of that coming soon and even some video feed!!  For any additional video feed or to give feed yourself on any style tips- you can go to the link below for THE DESIGN NETWORK and become interactive with design and style tips!

Long introduction I know, but there is always so much to say when Fashion meets your home!  My job is to brand and style, something I do best!  From working in Washington in the White House, to winning pageants and wearing a Miss NC crown and banner, owning my own stylish and very "Swish" boutique, to now working in the fashion of furniture- which is one of North Carolina's biggest attractions and biggest industries!  My biggest goal is to help style all of my followers and to help them see how their styles are reflected in their fashion and their furniture and where we can go to get that done and done the best way possible!  This is going to be a fun journey......

JUST JULIE: PICK OF THE DAY - First addition coming tomorrow!
